McLaren needed an intuitive interface for their phone booth installation at the F1 Arcade in St. Pauls — one that would instantly draw visitors in and guide them through recording personal messages for the F1 team, all while holding to brand.

A pulsing orange button as the central touch-point — the first moment of interaction with the tablet.

The interface for the Next.js application is centred around a pulsing orange button that beckons interaction, which I designed.

I created the UI/UX in Figma, translating McLaren and Velo brand guidelines into a digital experience for the tablet. I led the visual implementation, including animations with Framer Motion and Tailwind CSS, ensuring the interface felt dynamic to reflect the sport. Every micro-interaction was carefully crafted to maintain engagement throughout the recording process.

An hour to design the rough UI and UX flow in Figma. No brand guidelines yet — so I researched each brand to gain a visual understanding that would influence my designs.

I finalised the designs for the screens, working closely with the McLaren and Velo brand guidelines. Adding brand features such as slanted text, official brand colours, assets, and typefaces.

Hundreds of fan messages, delivered directly to the McLaren team.

Successfully deployed at McLaren F1 Arcade St. Paul's London, capturing hundreds of fan messages and creating a genuine connection between fans and drivers.

The installation has become a highlight of the F1 Arcade experience, with fans sharing their booth videos on social media, amplifying McLaren's brand reach organically. Plans are underway to expand the installation to additional F1 Arcade locations, building on the success of this initial deployment.

From tablet to driver.

A pulsing button, a brand language translated to the screen, a deployed install at St. Paul's.
